About the role

Staff Software Engineer focusing on architectural evolution of Xometry’s flagship enterprise partnership. Re-architect core application services to live within partner ecosystems, enabling zero-latency DFM feedback and one-click procurement without leaving the primary enterprise design environment. Hybrid schedule (3 days/wk) at North Bethesda, MD or Waltham, MA.

Responsibilities

  • Software Development and Technical Craft: design high-performance solutions and establish standards for embedding Xometry-AI into external PLM environments; ensure extensible, scalable architecture with enterprise SLIs/SLOs.
  • AI Fluency: integrate production ML pipelines into the application layer; champion AI-assisted development practices; mentor engineers on AI tools to accelerate delivery and improve code quality.
  • Problem Solving and Decision Making: address data gravity and security challenges; create formal networks between partner and Xometry teams; develop ring-fenced data governance for part files within partner networks.
  • Scope and Impact: set strategic direction and lead execution of core integration; ensure integration of DFM and IQE AI engines creates a defensible edge for the partnership.
  • Collaboration and Communication: facilitate cross-organizational technical discourse; guide risk/reward conversations with senior leadership; champion cross-functional development across marketplace and data science teams.
  • Operational Excellence: define reliability and security standards for enterprise deployments (partner-hosted or Xometry-hosted) and multi-tenant management.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of professional software development experience, with a history of scaling complex platforms.
  • Expert-level mastery of Python, AWS infrastructure, and modern frontend frameworks (React/NextJS) for complex enterprise applications.
  • Systems Architect: proven experience shaping technical direction across multiple teams and establishing engineering patterns as standards.
  • Strategic Roadmap Execution: track record of securing endorsement for 6-12 month initiatives and delivering production deployments.
  • Communication Excellence: ability to influence senior leadership and external partners on technical strategy and long-term investments.
  • Education: Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
