About the role

Staff Frontend Engineer at bunch drives architecture, quality, and developer experience for product surfaces used by customers and internal teams. Focuses on scalable, reliable, accessible, and fast frontend systems, shaping standards, patterns, and collaboration across product, design, and engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the migration from Svelte to React across stacks, coordinating architectural direction and product delivery without stalling teams.
  • Maintain and evolve the design system in collaboration with the frontend guild to enable consistent, accessible UI delivery.
  • Support and guide frontend initiatives across teams with the frontend guild, covering architecture, performance, testing strategy, developer experience, and technical debt reduction.
  • Raise UX/UI quality through design reviews, reusable patterns, mentoring, and technical writing.
  • Advance AI-powered tooling usage in engineering practices, shaping module boundaries, API contracts, and documentation to be friendly for humans and agents.

Qualifications

  • Track record of operating at Staff scope with systemic frontend or product-engineering improvements across multiple teams.
  • Deep expertise in modern frontend engineering: TypeScript, component architecture, state management, design systems, accessibility, performance, testing, and maintainable architecture.
  • Experience with AI-native practices and agentic workflows in coding.
  • Strong product judgment translating workflows and business constraints into pragmatic UX solutions.
  • Systems thinking across frontend, backend, APIs, infrastructure, observability, security, and compliance as needed.
  • Operating style oriented to quarterly/longer-term impact, cross-team credibility, architectural reasoning, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Collaborative leadership with ability to influence without formal authority, mentor engineers, and manage diverse stakeholders.
  • Fluent English, written and spoken.
