About the role
Senior Software Control Integration Engineer focusing on autonomous vehicle control algorithms, integration, and validation across AV software stack. Role emphasizes vehicle dynamics, MPC, state estimation, in-vehicle networks, and cross-team integration to build a world-class autonomous driving system.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to development related to vehicle dynamics and control and support other teams in such areas (ACC/LK, urban driving, trajectory planning, vehicle operation limit estimation, emergency maneuvers).
- Design technologies to build Autonomous Vehicle software stack and write new software modules from scratch for vehicle control.
- Provide feedback on system design to product level (architecture, failure modes, redundancy).
- Build offline and online benchmarks for vehicle control.
- Define and build tools to tune vehicle dynamics control and manage calibration updates for various vehicle types.
- Drive integration of control functionality across platforms; troubleshoot control and actuation issues in vehicles.
- Develop and maintain vehicle test suites to detect control integration problems; create automated tests to ensure software quality and prevent regressions.
- Tackle difficult problems and contribute to groundbreaking, innovative technology in autonomous vehicle control.
Qualifications
- BS, MS, or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of relevant work experience
- Knowledge in control theories (classical, modern, nonlinear, MPC, optimal, robust, sliding mode) - at least three
- Understanding of state estimation techniques (Luenberger observer, Kalman filter)
- Ability to develop vehicle models and perform parameter identification and benchmarking
- Proficiency in high-level algorithm design and prototyping in Matlab/Simulink/Python; production-oriented implementation with C/C++
- Experience in architectural design and software development with C/C++ for real-time embedded control systems (vehicle ECU)
- Understanding of automotive software test and verification; experience writing unit and system-level tests
- Experience integrating, tuning, and validating prototype/production control software with application, driver, and vehicle network layers
- Experience developing/using in-vehicle control software verification and calibration tools for autonomous vehicle applications
