About the role

Engineering Manager role focused on leading a high-performing team, setting architectural goals for Play Pass backend and cross-surface infrastructure, and collaborating with product, marketing, UX, and data science to drive growth of the Play Pass subscription product within Google’s Platforms and Devices group.

Responsibilities

  • Build, support, and grow a high-performing team. Be responsible for hiring, performance management, and career development of your team.
  • Set the architectural goal for Play Pass back-end infrastructure, multi-surface clients, and promotional engines.
  • Collaborate with product, marketing, User Experience (UX), and data science to create impactful features, run broadly available campaigns, and invest in the scalable infrastructure to drive significant growth of the product.
  • Set the architectural standards by actively participating in design reviews, mentor engineers on complex, cross-team dependencies, and grow a strong bench of leads within the team.
  • Manage organizational dependencies and communication with leadership across Google Play.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • 3 years of experience with full stack development, across the back-end such as Java, Python, Golang, or C++ codebases, and front-end experience including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or equivalent.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
