About the role

Software Development Engineer role focused on building a global, AI-native benefits platform for Amazon’s Benefits Experience Technology (BXT) group. Includes design and development of a configuration-driven core, AI-authoring layer, population-scale automation, and an always-on self-improving loop to deliver benefits across multiple countries and populations.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and launch platform services and major components across the full lifecycle — design, code, test, deployment, and operations.
  • Build the configuration-driven core: model eligibility, coverage, and enrollment rules for new markets without bespoke builds.
  • Build capabilities for large-scale automated actions with impact prediction, phased rollout, and safety controls.
  • Contribute to the RSI loop: design always-on agents, intake improvements, and production feedback leading to safe, autonomous iterations.
  • Build simulation testing infrastructure to validate changes against realistic populations at machine speed.
  • Solve distributed-systems problems in a high-volume event-driven platform (ordering, idempotency, replay, data consistency).
  • Launch into new markets and populations with upstream data and downstream payroll/vendor integrations.
  • Own AI-native foundations: continuous delivery, test generation, machine-readable business rules, and automated validation across services.
  • Own platform-quality APIs, including contracts, versioning, and backward compatibility.
  • Own operational excellence: alarms, telemetry, runbooks, automation, and permanent fixes.
  • Mentor engineers and uphold high standards in code reviews and team development.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 3+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
