About the role

Senior Software Development Engineer on the Pop DataPlane team for Amazon LEO, responsible for architecting and building the traffic processing pipelines that connect the satellite network to the outside world, with focus on scalability, performance, security, and integration within the broader LEO architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Design and own the architectural direction of the Pop DataPlane traffic processing systems, balancing scalability, performance, and security tradeoffs across the full software lifecycle.
  • Lead multi-engineer projects to build networking functions on AWS cloud infrastructure, establishing best practices for development, testing, and deployment processes.
  • Collaborate with satellite network, ground station, and customer-facing teams to gather requirements, define interfaces, and ensure your systems integrate into the broader LEO architecture.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated tests, and operational dashboards to ensure system reliability and rapid delivery of new capabilities.
  • Coach and mentor engineers on the team, driving a culture of high-quality code, thorough design reviews, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

  • The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
