About the role

Senior Tax Analyst on the Global Tax Engine Operations team in Bratislava, focusing on regulatory fees and special impositions. Build end-to-end automated tax calculations within Amazon's Tax Engine using SQL, data analysis tools, and AI-powered classification models.

Responsibilities

  • Own tax calculation end-to-end. From reading the legislation, through feasibility and accuracy analysis, to deploying automated calculations in the Tax Engine and monitoring them post-launch.
  • Analyse transaction data, validate tax calculation accuracy, and identify gaps in fee coverage across jurisdictions.
  • Use and help build AI solutions. You'll work with Amazon internal tools and generative AI tools. But you won't just be a user. You'll actively contribute to shaping how these tools are developed, tested, and improved for tax operations.
  • Build and track success metrics. Define KPIs for deployed solutions and use data to drive continuous improvement.
  • Identify new fee types and jurisdictions to expand coverage. Contribute directly to the team's product roadmap.
  • Partner with Engineering, Legal, and Product teams to translate regulatory requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Drive process improvements. Automate repetitive workflows and propose better ways of working.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
  • Experience in international indirect tax planning and strong understanding of or practical experience with tax laws in other countries
  • Knowledge of strong understanding of tax compliance principles, regulations, and reporting requirements across jurisdictions
  • Knowledge of general AI tools
  • 5+ years experience in indirect tax/finance environment or practical experience with indirect tax laws in other countries
