About the role

The Foundational AI (FAI) team seeks an experienced Applied Scientist with a strong deep learning background to build Generative AI (GenAI) technology with Large Language Models (LLMs). The role focuses on developing RL Gyms, advancing frontier model capabilities, and supporting foundational model development in an applied research context to impact customer-focused GenAI products and services at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of RL Gyms, assess their usefulness for frontier model advancement and build techniques to advance the state of the art with LLMs.
  • Support the foundational model development in an applied research role.
  • Leverage Amazon’s heterogeneous data sources and large-scale computing resources to accelerate advances in LLMs.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of building machine learning models for business applications
  • Experience with large scale machine learning systems such as profiling and debugging and understanding of system performance and scalability
  • PhD, or Master’s degree and 6+ years of applied research experience
  • Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
