  • Analyze customer engineering drawings, CAD files, and step files to assess manufacturability and identify technical requirements (e.g. tolerances, materials, finishes, inspections, etc.)
  • Evaluate partner capabilities against specific job requirements and determine which pre-vetted partners are best-fit candidates (e.g. capability, capacity, lead time, and strategic fit)
  • Distribute RFQs to identified partners with clear specifications, technical drawings, and quote requirements
  • Track bid submissions and manage communication with partners to ensure timely response and clarification of technical or commercial questions
  • Leverage manufacturing and engineering expertise to evaluate design feasibility and assess manufacturability of customer parts
  • Apply knowledge of CNC machining and sheet metal fabrication processes to identify cost-reduction strategies and manufacturing alternatives
  • Partner with manufacturers to explore process options, material substitutions, or manufacturing approaches that can lower total cost
  • Communicate technical requirements and design constraints clearly to partner manufacturers
  • Review partner technical proposals and manufacturing approaches to validate capability and identify manufacturability risks
  • Evaluate and compare partner bids across cost, capability, capacity, lead time, quality, and strategic fit
  • Analyze competitive bids, validate cost assumptions, and challenge high quotes with alternatives
  • Negotiate pricing and terms with partners to optimize margins while maintaining competitiveness
  • Award bids based on total value analysis to maximize profitability and strategic benefit
  • Build and maintain relationships with partners as a trusted technical resource and negotiator
  • Track and maintain bid data, monitor partner performance trends, and identify market opportunities
  • Generate data-driven insights to inform partner strategy and pricing
  • Monitor KPIs such as bid participation rate, win rate, cost reduction, and margin improvement
  • Identify bottlenecks and friction points in RFQ process and implement improvements
  • Gather partner feedback and collaborate with product, operations, and finance to accelerate bid cycles and improve quality
  • Document best practices and standardize quoting and negotiation strategies for scalability

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field
  • 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, manufacturing operations, supply chain, or procurement roles
  • Strong technical foundation in CNC machining and sheet metal fabrication (tolerances, materials, equipment capabilities, cost drivers)
  • Proficiency reading and interpreting engineering drawings, CAD models, and step files; understanding GD&T required
  • Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) or CAM software is a plus
  • DFM experience is a plus but not required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with data, spreadsheets, and metrics
