Cambridge, MA$88k - $144kfull-timePosted 3w ago
About the role
Associate Scientist/Scientist I with expertise in flow cytometry and cross-species tissue handling to support translational biology efforts, assay development, data interpretation, and mentoring within a high-throughput, data-rich discovery environment at LILA.
Responsibilities
- Independently isolate and process cells from liver, spleen, and whole blood across mouse, rat, NHP, and human samples; execute complex multi-parameter flow cytometry panels to interrogate LNP uptake, cellular delivery, immune activation, and phenotypic response in vitro and ex vivo.
- Develop and refine assay strategy and panel design; contribute to experimental design; complement with immunoassay and cell biology toolkit to evaluate lipid nanoparticle (LNP) delivery and therapeutic function.
- Interpret and contextualize data to inform project direction; shape high-throughput, data-rich discovery workflows; mentor junior team members in flow cytometry and tissue-processing techniques.
- Drive flow-based readouts for LNP and delivery system performance across species and tissues; translate cytometry data into actionable insights.
- Run in vitro assays evaluating LNP delivery readouts (IncuCyte, uptake, expression, knockdown, cytotoxicity, innate immune activation).
- Execute high-throughput and plate-based screening experiments; contribute to screening design with leadership and automation team.
- Oversee sample collection, aliquoting, labeling, storage; maintain biorepository integrity and tracking across species.
- Assist with development of multiplex immunoassays (MSD, Luminex, ELLA) for cytokine profiling and immunogenicity; support SOPs and troubleshooting.
- Analyze, interpret, and present data at team and cross-functional meetings; translate results into actionable next steps.
Qualifications
- B.S. with 5+ years or M.S. with 3+ years of hands-on laboratory experience in Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Biomedical Engineering, or related life science field; industry experience preferred.
- Advanced multi-parameter flow cytometry expertise including panel design, fluorophore/spectral selection, compensation/unmixing, instrument QC/setup, acquisition, and data interpretation.
- FlowJo experience including compensation/unmixing, gating, and multi-parameter analysis; exposure to high-parameter spectral platforms preferred.
- Ex vivo tissue processing and cell isolation across liver, spleen, whole blood; experience across mouse, rat, NHP, and human.
- Ability to independently execute, troubleshoot, interpret experiments, and contribute to assay development with senior scientists.
- Experience with multiplex immunoassay platforms (MSD, Luminex, ELLA) a plus.
- Primary cell culture and immortalized cell lines with downstream readouts (IncuCyte).
- Strong organizational skills, meticulous data integrity, and ability to manage multiple experiments in a fast-paced environment.
