About the role
Construction Onsite Foreman for data center fit-outs, coordinating trade crews, ensuring safety, quality, and on-site delivery of high-density compute infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Daily Field Supervision: Serve as on-site lead for assigned data center projects, directing activity across MEP contractors, low voltage and network installers, rack and integration crews, and OEM field service teams; run daily huddles and set priorities.
- Fit-Out & Installation Oversight: Oversee physical execution of white space fit-out work including rack/cabinet setting, containment, busway, rPDU, cabling, cooling, CDU tie-ins, airflow management; verify installations match drawings and Lambda standards before energizing.
- Safety Leadership: Enforce site safety requirements, permits, LOTO, hot work permits; conduct daily safety walks; lead incident and near-miss reporting.
- Quality Control & Inspections: Perform inspections, torque/termination checks, labeling verification, drive punch lists to closure, reject non-conforming work.
- Trade & Vendor Coordination: Deconflict overlapping work, sequence access, coordinate outages; manage vendor access, badging, tool/material handling, and site rules compliance.
- OFCI Material Management: Receive, inspect, stage, and secure owner-furnished, contractor-installed equipment; verify shipments; manage laydown and material readiness.
- Schedule Support & Lookaheads: Own three-week lookahead; track progress against schedule; flag gaps and report to PM.
- Field Documentation & Reporting: Produce daily field reports, maintain redlines, RFIs, field logs, and as-built notes.
- Issue Resolution & Escalation: Resolve constructability conflicts on-site; generate RFIs with references; escalate when needed.
- Commissioning & Turnover Support: Support pre-functional checks and commissioning activities; coordinate scripts and witness testing; drive open-item closure.
- Cross-functional Alignment: Work with Network Engineering, Data Center Operations, HPC, Supply Chain, and Technical PM to ensure proper sequencing and turnover for GPU deployment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completed trade apprenticeship, journeyman license, technical certification, or associate degree strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of construction field experience, including 2+ years in foreman/lead/superintendent role.
- Direct experience with data center white space fit-out or mission-critical installation work.
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and low voltage systems and installation practices; ability to read drawings and catch field conflicts.
- OSHA 30 certification required or obtained within 90 days of hire; NFPA 70E familiarity preferred; First Aid and CPR a plus.
- Familiarity with commissioning processes, pre-functional checklists, and punch list closeout.
- Proficient with field reporting tools and project platforms (e.g., Procore, Smartsheet, MS Project, Monday.com); mobile photo documentation.
- Willingness to travel (~75%) and work off-hours/weekends during critical activities.
