About the role

Senior software engineering role focused on leadership and hands-on development to improve the BigQuery processing core runtime, with emphasis on low-latency, high-throughput queries across multi-cloud environments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership on projects.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance large-scale software solutions.
  • Improve BigQuery engine to remove bottlenecks for low latency queries, design solutions that are easy to maintain and extend.
  • Work with BigQuery and Dremel codebase, which is primarily C++ with some Java in data planes and Python for tests.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: Java, C/C++ or Python.
  • 5 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
  • Experience with GPU programming (CUDA, OpenCL) and optimization techniques.
