About the role

Systems Development Engineering (SDE) role focused on managing services and systems at scale for Google Public Sector, building automation, observability, and reliable tools to bring Google Cloud infrastructure closer to mission-critical data for United States Government customers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, configure, and maintain internal systems and customer portals.
  • Support services before they go live through system design consulting, developing software platforms and frameworks, capacity planning, and launch reviews.
  • Maintain services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health.
  • Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation, evolving systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability and velocity.
  • Perform complex day-to-day troubleshooting and resolution of infrastructure issues, collaborating with engineering teams to implement customer requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or IT-related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with systems automation, and with systems design and implementation.
  • Experience in automation and scripting in languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, C++, Perl, or Bash.
  • Must possess an active Top Secret/SCI security clearance with current polygraph.
