About the role

Software Engineer III working on the CNS2 Replication area (Placer) within Google's infrastructure team. Focused on designing, developing, and maintaining a high-performance distributed storage system (CNS/CNS2) with opportunities to switch projects as Google grows.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test robust, scalable, and high-performance software for our distributed storage system, primarily using C++.
  • Contribute to the technical design and implementation of new features and significant system improvements.
  • Analyze and improve the efficiency, reliability, and performance of the storage system.
  • Debug and resolve complex issues in large-scale distributed environments, including those in production, often in collaboration with SRE teams.
  • Write high-quality, maintainable, and well-tested code, and participate actively in code reviews.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
  • 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
