About the role
Fundamental is an AI research lab focused on building foundation models for enterprise decision-making. The ML Researcher will design, implement, evaluate, and scale breakthrough ML models, contributing across the full lifecycle of model development and ensuring research code enables rapid experimentation.
Responsibilities
- Ideation, design, implementation, and evaluation of breakthrough machine learning models for real-world deployment
- Maintain and improve evaluation protocols and develop methods for efficient training and inference
- Ensure research code supports rapid development and testing of ideas across the team
- Collaborate with ML researchers to optimize model performance across all aspects (evaluation scores, architectures, training methods)
- Contribute to engineering aspects of research to support scalable training and inference
Qualifications
- Strong familiarity with the full research cycle in Machine Learning
- Strong fundamentals of software engineering
- Strong knowledge of Python, and its ML frameworks
- Experience with full lifecycle of AI model development
- Experience with ML infrastructure frameworks and tools
- Experience developing new ML methods, algorithms and models
- Experience with GPUs (or TPUs) and distributed training
- Experience scaling up models and training regimes
- Knowledge of classical ML methods and algorithms
- Knowledge of deep learning techniques
- Expertise in at least one of: tabular models, time series models, relational foundation models, structured data, large-scale foundation models
