About the role
Mechatronics engineer to scale Loombotic's automated wire harness manufacturing lines, driving growth from 1 to 100 lines with increased speed and capability. Involves machine design, PCB design, controls, and handling flexible materials like wire and tape. Team uses Onshape and KiCAD with AI-augmented design processes.
Responsibilities
- Design and scale automated wire harness manufacturing lines from 1 → 10 → 100 to achieve higher throughput.
- Own mechanical design of machines and sub-systems used in harness manufacturing.
- Create and iterate PCB designs and control systems for automated lines.
- Develop solutions for handling flimsy and flexible items (wire, tape, sleeving).
- Collaborate with a team to deploy state-of-the-art harness manufacturing line and aim for high monthly production targets.
Qualifications
- Experience with mechatronics, machine design, and controls (new grads considered).
- CAD design (Onshape used by the team).
- PCB design (KiCAD used by the team).
- Ability to own complex and novel machines.
