About the role

In-house senior legal counsel focusing on data privacy, AI, compliance, and commercial contracts to support a fast-moving, remote-first tech company with multiple revenue streams including SaaS, digital commerce, paid recommendations, and advertising.

Responsibilities

  • First week: Get up to speed on business model, goals, products (including SparkLoop and Subscriber Signals), meet internal stakeholders and external counsel, review common legal agreements, privacy questions, and security requests to identify risks and opportunities.
  • First month: Build a scalable plan for data processing, privacy, AI and other legal initiatives; map recurring privacy support questions; design intake, guidance, and escalation system; collaborate with Sales, Sponsorships, Security, Product, and Engineering; own GDPR and data compliance vetting; establish process for responding to customer security questionnaires.
  • First six months: Be go-to partner for legal considerations across product, engineering, security, and GTM; build scalable playbooks, templates, intake processes, and self-service guidance for privacy, data-use, and compliance; partner on Subscriber Signals and connected ecosystem initiatives; reduce reliance on outside counsel and streamline workflows.
  • First year: Elevate Kit’s legal maturity across privacy, compliance, product counsel, commercial contracts, and security; establish durable self-service systems; minimize outside counsel reliance and treat privacy/compliance as strategic enablers.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school
  • Active State Bar membership in good standing
  • In-house counsel experience at a tech company or in a tech portfolio at a top-tier firm known for startups (e.g., Fenwick & West, Cooley)
