About the role

Product Engineer at Pure, a YC-funded marketplace for rare coins and precious metals, focusing on the Vault Platform. Own key parts of the vault system from customer accounts to operations tooling, collaborating with operations, support, compliance, and partners to turn needs into software.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of products and services from the initial idea through development, launch, and ongoing improvements.
  • Build customer-facing tools for vault accounts, asset management, shipments, and transfers with TypeScript, React, and Next.js.
  • Design and maintain backend systems for asset intake, verification, inventory, storage, and shipping.
  • Be responsible for keeping asset ownership records, custody history, and movement accurate and traceable.
  • Work directly with warehouse and logistics teams to improve how assets are received, authenticated, stored, and fulfilled.
  • Build and maintain APIs, webhooks, and integrations that marketplaces, financial institutions, and other partners depend on.
  • Identify gaps in internal tools with Customer Support and Operations, and carry improvements through to completion.
  • Work with Compliance and Risk to implement identity verification, permissions, and custody controls.
  • Use customer feedback and operational data to set priorities and measure whether your changes solve the problem.
  • Make technical decisions across the stack and take responsibility for reliability, maintenance, and delivery.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience building software products, ideally at a startup.
  • Strong experience with TypeScript, React, and Next.js.
  • Built backend APIs and services with Node.js or a similar stack, using PostgreSQL.
  • Ability to own a product area, decide what needs attention, and drive work through without waiting for a detailed spec.
  • You enjoy understanding how people work and building software that makes their jobs easier.
  • Design systems that keep records accurate, enforce permissions, and make changes easy to trace.
  • Clear communication with engineers, operations teams, customer support, and business partners.
  • Take responsibility for what you ship, follow up on how it’s used, and address problems when they come up.
