About the role

Polymath Robotics is hiring an Applications Engineer to lead end-to-end vehicle bringup and support for autonomous industrial off-road vehicles, with a focus on systematizing manual processes, on-site and remote collaboration with clients, and contributing to ROS2 architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Own vehicle bringup end-to-end across simulation, bench, and on-vehicle phases
  • Build and extend automated test suites for navigation, sensor coverage, and integration
  • Find reusable patterns in one-off requests and generalize to future vehicles
  • Support integrators and customers on-site and remotely during bench and vehicle-testing phases
  • Communicate with clients and integrators on perception, controls, behavior, path planning, obstacle detection, tracking, and avoidance; align expectations and prepare technical proposals
  • Contribute to ROS2 architecture to fix gaps and remove recurring manual steps across programs
  • Travel as part of the role for sales meetings and onsite support (minimized where possible)

Qualifications

  • Strong in one or more: C++, Python, ROS/ROS2, systems architecture, or test automation frameworks
  • Hands-on experience with robots or autonomous systems (not just simulation)
  • Proven ability to automate or systematize manual processes
  • Ability to flag fragile patterns before they become recurring failures
  • Strong remote debugging skills using logs, ROS bags, and remote sessions; knows when on-site is required
  • Excellent written communication and ability to document test coverage, handoff criteria, and technical proposals

About Polymath Robotics

General Autonomy for Industrial Vehicles

Polymath is building a general autonomy stack for cautious vehicles. Our software allows any industrial vehicle - whether it's a tractor in a field or a bulldozer in a mine, drive itself. We bundle together AI, ML, Controls, ROS, Safety and best-in-class deployment practices to enable our customers to tell automated vehicles to do via a REST API. We're on more robots than we have engineers, are seeing our revenue (and robotic fleet) grow rapidly, and are looking for folks who want to help automate the world.
