About the role

Assistant Retail Store Manager, Front-of-House (FOH) Operations at Brooks oversees FOH leadership, drives store sell-through, and coordinates community events and staff development in a Brooks brand store.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Store Manager to: Lead the overall FOH operation to achieve budgeted sales and profit goals
  • Drive sales to meet established revenue, margin, profit, and expense targets
  • Support development of innovative grassroots community events and programs
  • Coach, develop, and manage performance of the store team to provide a premium level of service
  • Train staff to treat all customers with enthusiasm and support regardless of their abilities
  • Encourage storytelling and engagement to promote the Brooks brand and running culture
  • Partner with Store Manager and Community Specialist to develop and implement a store-level social media plan
  • Support development of community events to boost sales and brand familiarity; lead store activations around product launches with Retail Marketing
  • Coach and provide feedback to Sales Associates on selling techniques using GROW and BIRCH models
  • Create and manage staff incentive programs linked to core competencies
  • Develop and facilitate quarterly sales and behavioral training for staff
  • Act as back-up to place inventory orders and coordinate with Distribution Center during PTO
  • Create store schedules for staffing during PTO
  • Work the sales floor as product knowledge expert to drive sell-through and provide service-oriented storytelling
  • Provide regular feedback and analysis to Store Manager and Retail Operations on store performance

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or related field; equivalent years of experience considered
  • 3+ years of retail experience; event support and/or sales training preferred
  • 1+ year of leadership experience within retail preferred
  • Knowledge of retail math, inventory management, turn, gross-margin, open-to-buy, product merchandising, and selling skills
  • Knowledge of performance athletic footwear/apparel/accessories and related technologies
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lead independently or with the store manager
  • Innovative, detail-oriented, and willing to help across tasks
  • Strong ability to anticipate impact of decisions on customers and stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Keen attention to planning, organization, and execution; big-picture awareness
  • Passion for Brooks’ sports activities and ability to connect with runners
  • High motivation and energetic demeanor
  • Alignment with Brooks values
