About the role

Senior Global Finance Manager role focused on technical accounting, strategic projects, and international expansion at Octopus Energy Group. You’ll work closely with the Group Corporate Finance Director on high-impact areas including fundraising, M&A, new geographies, and internal restructures in a fast-paced, global environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical accounting, financial advice and support for the most important strategic projects within the business, including in relation to debt facilities, key contracts, intercompany activity, and M&A
  • Provide technical accounting advice to the group and business units within the audit process
  • Ensure implementation of accounting excellence across the group covering a broad spectrum of new developments and initiatives in the group
  • Lead on accounting for due diligence on M&A activities
  • Work closely with treasury, capital markets, legal and tax teams on project implementations
  • Work closely with Group Reporting and auditors to ensure that any new projects are accurately disclosed in the financial statements
  • Work, where necessary, with external advisors to support on key projects and for select pieces of advice

Qualifications

  • Big 4 qualified (CA, ACCA or equivalent) with great post-qualified experience in practice or in industry
  • Excellent technical accounting experience in audit and/or advisory
  • Experience in controls implementations and business process improvements
  • The ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects
  • The ability to effectively form trusted relationships with business unit management teams but at the same time retain an ability to challenge with empathy and understanding
  • Excellent communication and listening skills will be core to this
