About the role
Lead Parallel's accounting function as the first Controller. Own end-to-end accounting (month-end close, financial statements, US GAAP and revenue recognition, international accounting, audit readiness, tax and statutory compliance, internal controls), build and lead the accounting team, set close processes, chart of accounts, and core policies, and drive systems and controls to scale with the company.
Responsibilities
- own accounting end to end: month-end close, financial statements, US GAAP and revenue recognition, international accounting decisions, audit readiness, tax and statutory compliance, and internal controls
- build the accounting team and scale the function
- set the close process, chart of accounts, and core policies
- drive technical positions on usage-based revenue, compute commitments, and cost treatment
- choose core systems for accounting, finance, and revenue operations
- partner with finance, revenue operations, legal, and other functions as they mature
- balance building for today with scale for the future
- stand up an accounting function with strong hires and leadership
Qualifications
- 8–10+ years of progressive accounting experience in high-growth tech
- CPA
- Big 4 background
- AI-first approach to problem solving
- strong knowledge of US GAAP, especially usage-based revenue models
- experience building and leading an accounting team
- experience selecting and implementing accounting systems, automating manual work, and using AI tools to move faster
