About the role

Engineering Manager role focused on leading and growing a team of library engineers working on Datadog’s SDKs for the Language Platform, driving platform capabilities, open-source instrumentation, and collaboration with product teams across multiple languages.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, grow, and develop a team of roughly 4-8 library engineers — coaching, giving direct feedback, and empowering senior ICs as technical leaders owning outcomes
  • Own team delivery and productivity: planning, milestones, reviews
  • Collaborate with Product teams to reshape and grow platform capabilities to enable product teams
  • Define and deliver industry leading, open-source, zero-touch APM instrumentation
  • Stay technically close to the work — apply strong technical judgment, set a high standard for quality, contribute code where it matters most, and keep quality and architecture high
  • Build strong relationships and drive alignment across the language teams and product, backend
  • Shape team identity and culture

Qualifications

  • An experienced Engineering Manager with a track record of shipping
  • A strong and empathetic leader with the ability to build and lead high-performing teams to deliver high quality software
  • An ability pivot from high level product narratives to highly technical implementation details
  • You have significant programming experience in one or more of: Go, C, Rust
