About the role

Software engineer role at Google focusing on end-to-end ownership of workstreams within the screening platform, with emphasis on Payments/AFC sanctions screening, architectural direction, and mentorship of engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Scope out problems in Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) sanctions screening space and enable the technical strategy for problem statements.
  • Set technical direction, author comprehensive design documents, and lead design reviews for complex, multi-quarter features within the team. Contribute actively to elevate system stability and production health, identify opportunities to improve the systems and scale them for future needs by influencing the leadership.
  • Partner closely with cross-functional peers Product Managers (PMs), Technical Program Managers (TPGMs), Payments Compliance Operations, Export legal, Platform teams to resolve architectural dependencies and align project timelines.
  • Guide, mentor, and delegate tasks to adjacent junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing engineering culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products.
  • 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
