About the role

Internship opportunity at Google in London, UK for PhD students in Computer Science or related technical field (EMEA region). Roles available in Software Engineering or Site Reliability Engineering with projects spanning NLP, AI, data processing, and large-scale systems. Rolling review with start between May–July 2027 for 13–17 weeks during Summer 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Research, conceive and develop software applications to extend and improve on Google's product offering.
  • Contribute to a wide variety of projects using natural language processing, artificial intelligence, data compression, machine learning, and search technologies.
  • Collaborate on scalability issues involving access to data and information.
  • Utilize exposure to large-scale production software troubleshooting.
  • Help maintain mission critical services.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a PhD degree in Computer Science or a related technical field in the EMEA region, and in your penultimate/final year of education.
  • Experience working with data structures and algorithms during coursework/projects, research, internships, or practical experience in school or work (e.g., open-source coding).
  • Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages (e.g., Java, C/C++, Python, JavaScript, Go, etc.).
