About the role

Senior UX Design Manager responsible for shaping core consumer and enterprise messaging experiences in Google's Messages app, leading a distributed design team, driving product strategy, and guiding UX transformation and collaboration with Product Management and Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Influence stakeholders across organizations to gain support for design strategies.
  • Own improvements in design based on UX testing and stakeholder input, providing guidance and expertise to effectively engage stakeholders on product design to achieve product goals.
  • Manage a distributed team of ~8 designers split across the US and EU.
  • Guide the development and delivery of overall business strategy, leaning in with UX skills and user empathy for strong, jointly owned outcomes.
  • Continue to lead this team through AI transformation, focusing on quality, depth, and ongoing curiosity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in product design or UX.
  • 5 years of experience leading design projects and managing people or teams.
  • 3 years of experience designing for consumer products.
