About the role
Software engineer role focused on Android backup ecosystem integrations, client SDKs for OEM backup integrations, and ensuring scalable, high-quality Android backup infrastructure within Google Photos and related services.
Responsibilities
- Set the technical goal and architectural roadmap for Android backup ecosystem integrations.
- Design and build client SDKs for original equipment manufacturer (OEM) backup integrations and evolve the backup engine to serve product needs.
- Optimize reliability, battery, memory, and network usage under strict Android OS constraints.
- Co-design robust client-server synchronization and partner cross-functionally to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
- Foster engineering excellence through code and architecture reviews, scaling best practices, and mentorship.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software development.
- 5 years of experience testing and launching software products.
- 5 years of experience with Android application development.
- 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
