About the role

Google Software Engineer role focused on building next-generation Large Language Model (LLM) agents for Google Shopping, enabling virtual business analytics for merchants, with opportunities to switch teams and projects.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and deploy features for flagship conversational agents (e.g., BAA and BHAA) using Gemini models and Google’s Agent Development Kit (ADK).
  • Implement robust backend tools and RPC integrations (server platform, Spanner, F1) to allow agents to retrieve, aggregate, and reason over merchant performance metrics, inventory, and guidance cards.
  • Implement automated evaluations, guardrails, and prompt engineering strategies to eliminate hallucinations and ensure high factual accuracy and helpfulness in agent responses.
  • Connect conversational intelligence with GIF’s reporting and guidance frameworks to deliver seamless interactions across Merchant Center and Business Home.
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-tested code in Java/Kotlin or C++, ensuring agent workflows execute reliably and meet low-latency serving requirements for millions of merchants.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 1 year of experience with Machine Learning (ML) infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, optimization, data processing, debugging).
  • Preferred: Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Preferred: 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • Preferred: Experience developing accessible technologies.
