About the role

Software engineer role focused on the Agent Retrieval Search Platform within Google Cloud AI Research, solving large-scale backend and infrastructure challenges, with opportunities to influence architecture, design, and performance across distributed systems and search capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical execution and scoping of highly complex, ambiguous projects to unblock core product limitations.
  • Drive the physical design and implementation decisions that ensure the backend system performs at scale.
  • Build solutions flexible enough to offer internal tooling capabilities while reliably handling massive query volumes.
  • Maintain a strong presence by contributing to critical code paths, authoring technical designs, and performing code reviews.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in cost-performance, query latency, and throughput as datasets grow.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • 5 years of experience building and developing infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
