About the role

Forward Deployed Engineer role within the Geo Auto team, collaborating with global automotive partners to integrate Google Maps and develop navigation solutions for vehicles. Focuses on guiding products from ideation to production, evaluating map data, and creating external SDKs and visualization tools, with extensive cross-functional collaboration across internal teams and external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Lead automotive partners as they integrate Google Maps and Automotive SDK across complex domains including Automotive OS platforms, ADAS components, and in-vehicle infotainment.
  • Manage the automotive partner relationship and be responsible for driving issue resolutions including bugs, missing functionality, and feature requests.
  • Internally represent the requirements, constraints and roadmap of automotive partners to inform product development.
  • Support the Geo Auto Forward Deployed Engineering team as a subject matter expert.
  • Work closely with teams across the Geo Auto, Geo Developer, and Android organizations to ensure Google provides a uniform and complete automotive solution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience troubleshooting technical issues for internal/external partners or customers.
  • 5 years of experience in system design or one programming language (e.g., Java, C++, Python, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate in Japanese and English fluently to interact with internal and external stakeholders.
