About the role

Advanced role leading software engineering efforts for Google Health platforms, focusing on health feature data ingestion, backend services, and wearables data. Responsible for technical strategy, team leadership, security and compliance, and delivery across multiple sites.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a talented team of software engineers, fostering technical excellence, collaboration, and impact; apply coding and AI to increase velocity and code health.
  • Define and drive the technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for Google Health's feature and data ingestion; balance priorities and make technical trade-offs.
  • Ensure systems meet security, privacy, compliance (HIPAA), scalability, and reliability requirements given sensitive health data.
  • Oversee the entire software development lifecycle of the team's services; collaborate with product management, research, and other engineering teams; advocate best practices in software development, data engineering, and backend services.
  • Comply with all company health and safety policies, procedures, and legal requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software engineering with a focus on data infrastructure or backend systems.
  • 5 years of experience managing a team of software engineers and guiding system architecture and design.
  • Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale, distributed backend systems.
