About the role

Delivery Consultant role within AWS ProServe focused on mainframe modernization and migration to AWS, leading end-to-end assessment, design, and migration strategies for enterprise mainframe estates across multiple countries and regulatory jurisdictions.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the assessment and discovery of customer mainframe estates, including application portfolio analysis, dependency mapping, and modernisation readiness evaluation
  • Designing and implementing modernisation solutions on AWS — including replatforming, refactoring to cloud-native services, and automated code transformation approaches
  • Providing deep technical guidance on mainframe technologies (COBOL, PL/I, JCL, CICS, IMS, DB2, VSAM) and their AWS equivalents throughout project delivery
  • Collaborating with customer architects, development teams, and business stakeholders to define migration waves, prioritise workloads, and manage cutover risk
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to customers on mainframe modernisation trends, including AI-assisted code transformation, automated testing strategies, and incremental migration patterns
  • Sharing knowledge within the organisation through mentoring, training, and creating reusable artifacts such as modernisation playbooks, assessment frameworks, and reference architectures

Qualifications

  • Speak, write, and read fluently in English
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional or military experience
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with mainframe technologies (e.g., z/OS, COBOL, PL/I, JCL, CICS, IMS, Db2, VSAM)
  • Experience delivering mainframe migration or modernization projects (e.g., re-host, re-platform, refactor, replace)
  • Experience in solution design and architecture, including cloud (AWS or equivalent), systems, networking and operating systems
  • Software development experience with object-oriented languages (e.g., Java, C#)
  • Experience delivering complex, large-scale, customer-facing projects (external or internal)
