About the role
Chief Engineer in Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) responsible for ensuring high availability and efficient operation of electrical, mechanical, and fire/safety systems in AWS data centers. Leads projects, mentors technicians, coordinates with internal and external teams, and drives innovation and cost efficiencies while maintaining 99.999% availability.
Responsibilities
- Ensure electrical, mechanical, and fire/safety systems in the data center operate at maximum efficiency.
- Plan and perform preventive maintenance, handle daily corrective tasks, and respond to emergencies.
- Act as technical expert reporting to the on-site Data Center Facility Manager and collaborate with Engineering Operations Technicians and external providers.
- Lead low- to medium-impact projects from conception to completion, including milestones, quotes, and documentation for replication across facilities.
- Supervise, train, and support Engineering Operations Technicians to perform practical fault finding and operation of electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Implement and conduct site- and equipment-specific training programs.
- Oversee equipment such as standby generators, switchgear, UPS, PDUs, AHUs, chillers, cooling towers, chemical treatment systems, pumps, motors, VFDs, and building automation systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Experience bringing new design concepts from exploration to deployment or mass production
- Experience with MS Excel, Word, and Windows OS
- Experience with power management and power monitoring systems
- This role requires you to be a national of an EU member state.
