About the role

Staff Software Engineer role focused on delivering AI-enabled, user-centric features at Peregrine. Responsible for scaling the platform, real-time data querying/notification, and optimizing search, with a backend stack (Python/Django/Celery/Airflow/Kafka) and frontend (React/Redux/Mapbox), leveraging ML models hosted in Bedrock and SageMaker on AWS infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Own large portions of the application from start to finish and ship production-grade software components
  • Build and iterate on differentiating AI-enabled features powered by generative AI
  • Scale the platform to handle terabytes of data from diverse sources
  • Efficiently query and notify users on data in real time
  • Optimize search algorithms to serve results quickly
  • Collaborate with deployment team and users to iterate solutions
  • Work with a tech stack including Python, Django, Celery, Airflow, Kafka, React, Redux, Mapbox, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Bedrock, SageMaker, AWS, Pulumi, Terraform, Kubernetes

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Over 8 years of experience with cross-functional software development teams
  • Experience shipping and iterating on production-grade software components
  • Ability to write robust, well-tested, well-designed code
  • Strong software development practices and ability to navigate large codebases
  • Understanding of best practices for using generative AI responsibly; bonus experience with LLMs
  • Knowledge of training, deploying, integrating, and monitoring ML models
  • Located in NYC and open to working in office
