Senior Analytics Engineer - Decision Intelligence
About the role
Senior technical IC role focused on building Deepgram's decision layer, turning data from the warehouse into conformed gold tables, semantic models, and agent-facing tools for reliable querying by humans and AI agents.
Responsibilities
- Model the gold layer. Conformed entities for customer, account, project, product and contract. Identity model spans Salesforce, the console, Stripe and the billing system, with no authoritative key between them resolving that is week one.
- Own the semantic layer. Author models that define metrics once so dashboards, notebooks, and agents return the same number. Version them and retire superseded ones.
- Build the agent-facing surface. Tools, permissions and MCP surfaces enabling analyst agents to navigate data without creating plausible but wrong joins.
- Make correctness checkable. Assertions on breaking issues like grain, uniqueness, and cross-system reconciliation; route to named owners; evaluate agent output against known-correct answers; track accuracy, refusal, and confidently-wrong rates.
- Absorb the questions. Answer real questions from Sales, Product and Finance and leave behind a reusable model for cheaper future iterations.
Qualifications
- AI-native practice demonstrated (daily use of AI as part of work)
- Production-grade SQL and Python
- Semantic or metrics layer ownership (dbt, Cube, LookML or equivalent)
- Modelling judgement over tool knowledge (focus on grain and keys, discerning defects vs. undecided business definitions)
- Comfort with work-in-progress infrastructure (no fixed tickets; building as you go)
- Clear writing skills (ability to define contracts and expectations in a trustworthy way)
