About the role
Role to build and own a brand-new planning function for Lambda's data center hardware, connecting customer/deployment needs with ODM/OEM and component suppliers to create demand forecasts, supply plans, and S&OP processes.
Responsibilities
- Own the demand forecast for assigned portfolio; translate deployment plans, customer commitments, and capacity roadmaps into a time-phased unit view.
- Build and maintain forecast models, scenarios, and track forecast accuracy and bias.
- Partner with Go-to-Market, Project Management, Finance, and Data Center Engineering to keep demand signal current.
- Establish forecast input ownership, cadence, and change-control to surface upstream changes quickly.
- Convert demand into supply and build plans for finished systems, racks, and networking equipment; include build slots, integration capacity, and delivery schedules.
- Align partner manufacturing capacity and lead times with demand; resolve mismatches.
- Collaborate with Commodity Management on component availability and reflect constraints in the supply plan.
- Lead execution timing across the supply chain to ensure timely procurement and deployment.
- Plan for new platform introductions and transitions with coordinated build schedules and ramp timing.
- Coordinate with Operations and Logistics on inbound flow, staging, and delivery.
- Run or contribute to the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) cycle; present decision-ready views of supply vs demand and risks.
- Drive consensus across functions and escalate constraints with options and recommendations.
- Keep the plan of record accurate and transparent in downstream impacts.
- Define inventory targets, buffer strategies, and safety stock for long-lead items; monitor on-hand, in-transit, and committed inventory.
- Identify and mitigate risks to deployment schedules (lead times, capacity, allocations, geopolitical impacts).
- Develop contingency plans and run scenario analyses for leadership.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in Demand Planning, Supply Planning, S&OP, Supply Chain, or Materials Planning for hardware and direct planning at system/rack/complex-assembly level.
- Experience building demand forecasts and translating into supply, build, and inventory plans in long-lead-time environments.
- Strong understanding of BOM structures, lead times, and how component constraints affect finished goods availability.
- Experience with ODMs, OEMs, or contract manufacturers on capacity, build schedules, and ramp planning.
- Hands-on experience with S&OP or equivalent integrated planning process.
- Strong analytical and financial acumen; proficiency with mathematical models, forecasting, inventory optimization, and scenario modeling.
- Experience with ERP and planning systems; track record of improving planning processes and tooling.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and communicate risks/trade-offs clearly.
- Comfort operating with ownership in fast-growth, ambiguity-rich environments and building processes from scratch.
