About the role

Software engineer position focused on expanding BigQuery capabilities, optimizing queries, and supporting AI workloads within Google Cloud as part of the BigQuery, Query Federation team in Kraków, Poland.

Responsibilities

  • Write product or system development code.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Work on expanding BigQuery's capabilities, attract new customers, and power the next generation of AI workloads.
  • Collaborate closely with core BigQuery teams, across both data and control planes, as well as other foundational database teams (Cloud Spanner, Cloud SQL, AlloyDB, etc.).
  • Solve complex problems that combine distributed systems, query optimization, compute pushdowns, security, and large-scale data integration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages such as Java, C++, Go, etc., or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
