About the role

Senior software engineering role focusing on owning outcomes, solving ambiguous problems, coaching distributed teams, and delivering large-scale software solutions within Google's Platforms and Devices organization.

Responsibilities

  • Influence and coach a distributed team of engineers to facilitate alignment on goals, outcomes, and timelines.
  • Develop mid-term technical roadmaps and manage project priorities to ensure deliverables meet future infrastructure needs.
  • Design, test, and deploy large-scale software solutions while solving ambiguous problems with high-quality code.
  • Review code and implementation practices to provide feedback on style, accuracy, testability, and efficiency.
  • Guide system design decisions by clarifying problems, assessing trade-offs, and ensuring scalability and semantic cohesion. Drive engineering excellence by defining success metrics, automating processes, and triaging system issues for resolution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering Management or a related field and 8 years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a Software Engineering-related occupation.
  • Alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering Management or a related field, and 6 years of experience in the job offered or in a Software Engineering-related occupation.
  • 6 years of experience in programming in C++, Java, Python, Kotlin, or Go; design of algorithms and data structures; systems architecture; debugging to diagnose, triage, and fix system issues via root cause analysis; risk management.

Benefits

  • The US base salary range for this full-time position is $207,000 - $301,000 + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
