About the role

Facilities Technicians at Google data centers operate, monitor and support physical facilities conditions, focusing on heating and cooling, power supply, generators, UPS, electrical distribution and control and monitoring systems to ensure uptime and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Support commissioning and integration of new equipment and systems into a new facilities infrastructure.
  • Inspect, maintain and repair various data center systems.
  • Operate, monitor, maintain and respond to abnormal conditions in the data center facilities systems and equipment.
  • Monitor multiple information streams in the control room and make accurate decisions.
  • Ensure the uptime, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical distribution systems and power monitoring.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree, trade school certification, or other certified training in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with assembly of mechanical or electrical systems, or performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment.
  • Experience with diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer hardware and server hardware.
  • Experience with networking protocols.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours, including working weekends, night shifts, holidays and on shift-based schedules as required.
