About the role

Strategic Cloud Engineer within the JAPAC AppDev Practice who designs end-to-end cloud architectures, builds reference implementations, leads customer workshops, and scales delivery across JAPAC. Role combines software engineering with technical consulting for strategic customers on application development, modernization, and production launches.

Responsibilities

  • Design end-to-end, full-stack cloud architectures on Google Cloud Platform, making strategic technical trade-offs to optimize performance, scalability, security and system integration.
  • Build and automate production-grade reference code, scripts, and full-stack software components while configuring cloud-native CI/CD pipelines, container runtimes (such as GKE or Cloud Run), and application telemetry.
  • Lead customer discovery workshops and whiteboarding sessions to map user journeys, decomposing ambiguous requirements to drive both project delivery and scoping of complex technical delivery opportunities.
  • Earn trust as a technical advisor to customer practitioners and leadership, resolving complex engineering blockers through active collaboration with Google Product, Presales, and companion PSO teams.
  • Extract and package repeatable architectural patterns and reference code from customer engagements into reusable regional assets and methodologies to scale JAPAC-wide delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience in a customer-facing software engineering or technical consulting role, designing and launching cloud solutions.
  • Experience deploying container platforms (e.g., GKE, Cloud Run) and designing, building, and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines.
