About the role
AWS Infrastructure Services seeks a Network and Cable Decommissioning Technician to recover rack space, remove cabling infrastructure, and sanitize legacy network equipment. The role collaborates with project managers, network engineers, and operations teams to decommission infrastructure across AWS data centers, while maintaining safety, communication, and efficient ticket-driven work flows.
Responsibilities
- Execute assigned decommissioning tasks for network and cabling infrastructure.
- Collaborate with project managers, network engineers, and operations teams to recover rack space and sanitize legacy equipment.
- Remove cabling infrastructure and manage related tasks as part of data center decommissioning.
- Communicate status updates on assigned tasks.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and operate efficiently under pressure.
Qualifications
- 1+ years of computer networking experience
- 1+ years of Linux operating systems experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- Experience in computer networking
- Experience working with Linux operating systems
- Can lift and rack equipment up to 40 pounds
- Experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair
- Preferred: able to work in cramped spaces or elevated locations while following health & safety guidelines
- Preferred: experience dealing with customers during problem resolution and working under pressure
- Preferred: experience managing work and priorities via a ticketing system
- Preferred: experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies
- Preferred: experience in a data center environment (racking and stacking gear, cable management, hot/cold aisle containment)
