About the role

Own the architectural direction for sponsored conversational shopping experiences powered by large language models, building large-scale, low-latency distributed systems and ML infrastructure to support LLM-driven advertising experiences for hundreds of millions of Amazon shoppers.

Responsibilities

  • Own the architectural direction for conversational ad experiences on the Search page, making foundational technical decisions that shape the product long-term
  • Build large-scale, low-latency distributed systems and ML infrastructure that power LLM-driven advertising experiences in production
  • Partner with the science team to implement LLM models in production and contribute to LLMOps — driving the technical strategy for how models are deployed, monitored, and improved
  • Pioneer new approaches to conversational AI and natural language interactions in advertising, evaluating and adopting emerging technologies
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration across engineering, science, and product teams to integrate AI-driven solutions across the advertising ecosystem
  • Design and operate scalable systems that deliver personalized ad experiences to hundreds of millions of shoppers
  • Mentor engineers, establish engineering best practices, and raise the technical bar across the team

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
