About the role

Hardware development manager to lead the mechanical engineering team responsible for designing robotic end of arm tooling (EOAT) for Amazon distribution and fulfillment centers. Owns mechanical design of EOAT, guides the team through mechanisms, actuation, motor design, kinematics, and structural analysis, and collaborates with cross-functional partners to bring tooling from concept to production.

Responsibilities

  • Own the mechanical design roadmap for robotic EOAT, defining goals, priorities, and metrics that balance near-term deliverables with long-term technical strategy in mechanisms, actuation, and structural design.
  • Lead and grow a team of mechanical engineers through hands-on coaching, development planning, and strategic project assignments, while actively recruiting to expand capabilities.
  • Drive technical problem solving across the design lifecycle — root-cause analysis, trade-off evaluation, and design reviews — applying expertise in motor design, kinematics, and structural and thermal analysis to guide the team toward reliable, cost‑effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with electrical, software, sensor, safety, manufacturing, and deployment teams to integrate mechanical subsystems into the full EOAT and ensure designs meet system-level requirements.
  • Establish and refine engineering processes, design standards, and quality mechanisms that reduce iteration cycles and position the team to scale as program complexity increases.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of new hardware products development experience
  • 7+ years of engineering team management experience
  • Experience in engineering team management
  • Experience in new hardware product development
  • Experience in DFx (cost, test, manufacturing)
  • Experience with the project management of technical projects
  • Bachelor's degree or above in robotics, mechanical/mechatronics engineering, systems engineering or related field
