About the role

Software Development Engineer II on the Amazon Travel & Events Tech team within Finance Automation, driving a multi-year transformation of Travel & Expense systems into a unified, AI-powered experience across 64 countries. Focus on designing and building scalable services powering AI-driven policy guidance, intelligent booking, automated expense workflows, centralized payments, and real-time analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable service architectures that power AI-driven policy guidance, intelligent booking, and automated expense workflows for a global user base.
  • Deliver working features across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and operations.
  • Collaborate with product managers, applied scientists, and engineers across Finance Automation and partner organizations to translate business needs into reliable technical solutions.
  • Coach teammates through code reviews and design discussions, raising the quality bar for the team's software and establishing shared engineering best practices.
  • Identify and resolve root causes of operational issues while continuously improving system reliability and maintainability.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
