About the role

Principal Applied Scientist with deep learning/generative AI background to develop software development skills for Nova foundational models within the Frontier AI Assets (FAI) team.

Responsibilities

  • Defining key research directions and adopting/inventing new machine learning techniques.
  • Conducting rigorous experiments, publishing results, and translating research into practice.
  • Developing frontier quality assets for training and evaluating GenAI models.
  • Participating in organizational planning, hiring, mentorship, and leadership development.
  • Leading scientific reviews, examining experimental design and modeling procedures, and aligning teams to coherent strategies.
  • Educating the scientific community on advanced techniques and trends; mentoring and helping develop scientists and leads.
  • Serving as a key scientific resource in full-cycle development (conception, design, implementation, testing, documentation, delivery, maintenance).

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on work in predictive modeling and analysis
  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related technical field
  • Experience distilling informal customer requirements into problem definitions and dealing with ambiguity
  • Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
  • Experience leading experienced scientists and developing junior members into a business career track
