About the role

The AWS Analytics Engineering (AAE) organization builds and operates the data platform powering analytics across AWS services. The role involves owning multiple data domains, managing hundreds of pipelines, driving architectural improvements, and partnering with AWS service teams to design data contracts and deliver analytical models at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Identify limitations and opportunities in data processing tools, drive improvements and innovation, define data processing guidelines, and ensure best practices in pipelines.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of data engineering experience
  • Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language (Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS)
  • Experience mentoring team members on best practices
  • Experience building/operating highly available, distributed systems for data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets
  • Experience building data products incrementally and integrating and managing data sets from multiple sources
  • Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements and describe data modeling decisions and data engineering strategy
  • Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring other engineers for best practices on data engineering
  • Experience with MPP databases such as Amazon Redshift
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, analytics, mathematics, statistics, IT or equivalent
  • 5+ years of data warehouse technical architectures, data modeling, infrastructure components, ETL/ELT and reporting/analytic tools and environments, data structures and hands-on SQL coding experience
