About the role

Emergent is hiring a Lead UX Researcher in Bangalore to guide product decisions by applying Behavioral Science, Design thinking, Data, and AI. You will explore user thinking, trust with AI agents, and partner with product, design, engineering, and marketing to impact products used by millions.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Human-AI Research: Lead research studies leveraging qualitative and quantitative approaches to understand user behavior and trust when working with AI.
  • Explore & Test New Ideas: Run research to discover new ways people can interact with AI.
  • Usability Studies: Gather hands-on user feedback and translate it into practical ideas that shape features and their functionality.
  • Support Data & Insights Foundation: Help create tools/dashboards combining data sources (interview transcripts, product usage) to understand human-AI interactions and product impact.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Act as the behavioral expert working with Product Managers, Engineers, and Designers to solve open-ended product questions.

Qualifications

  • 7 years+ of hands-on research experience in tech, product, consulting, or applied research environments.
  • Strong background in Behavioral Science, Cognitive Psychology, Behavioral Economics, or Human-Computer Interaction (HCI).
  • Proven ability to use mixed research methods—deep qualitative research (in-depth interviews, observation) with data analysis (surveys, experiments, behavioral data).
  • Literature review to synthesize AI-Human interaction frameworks across industry and academia.
  • AI product experience: researching and shaping strategy for AI tools and agentic workflows.
  • Strategic influence: track record of turning complex user insights into practical product changes and leadership decisions.
