Mechanical Integration and Test Engineer - Full Time Position
About the role
Mechanical Integration and Test Engineer for HyLight, a full‑stack aerospace startup developing autonomous hydrogen airships. You will own the mechanical lifecycle of the HyLighter, from concept design and testing to on-site validation and production readiness, bridging engineering perfection with field reliability.
Responsibilities
- Lead the conceptual design of new mechanical subsystems and airframe evolutions; transform prototypes into functional products through rapid iteration (CAD, 3D printing, machining).
- Establish fatigue models and design accelerated life tests (HALT/HASS) to predict End of Life and maximize fleet availability.
- Implement Root Cause Analysis for every field failure and drive design updates with a strong feedback loop between engineering and operations.
- Be the technical owner of the drone’s mechanical lifecycle, ensuring robustness, ease of assembly, and mission-critical availability.
- Spend time on‑site supporting testing and flight activities and collaborate with Mech Team across reliability, industrialization, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years designing outdoor/rugged mechanical systems (fatigue, vibration).
- Experience in test planning (DoE), designing test fixtures, testing, analyzing results, and writing reports; creating new test specifications.
Skills
Benefits
- 100% reimbursement of public transport pass (Navigo) or €800/year for sustainable commuting
- Bike provided for commuting
- Free lunch
- Bi-annual offsite trips with the whole team
- Excellent work environment: international team, team events, offices on a former airbase

About HyLight
Small unmanned hydrogen airships for long range monitoring
HyLight builds and operates autonomous airships for long range monitoring. We focus on detecting methane leaks on pipelines and defects on power lines. Our innovation, the HyLighter, is a crossover between drone and airship technology. Like a drone, it is easily controllable and transportable. And, like an airship, it is extremely energy-efficient, enabling it to fly for up to 10 hours at slow speed (22mph) for optimal data collection which represents a range of 220miles. Today, energy infrastructure operators struggle with conducting inspections that are simultaneously: massive and precise. HyLight offers a solution to precisely detect issues on the infrastructure at an industrial scale, and all of this without emitting GHGs. We are 3 co-founders experienced in hardware and energy companies with Masters in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Business from the best Engineering and Business School in France. We have developed 5 different flying aircrafts and signed 5 pilots programs with major energy infrastructure operators. We also have LOIs worth over $3.5M.
