About the role

Flex is hiring a General Manager to build and run its venture and private equity business. You own the sector end to end: strategy, relationships, partnerships, product priorities, and P&L, with the role modeled on sector coverage at an investment bank. Reports to the CEO.

Responsibilities

  • Own the sector P&L. Accountable for owners in venture and private equity banking with Flex and the revenue they generate; build the model, report weekly, and answer for it.
  • Map the sector and cover it. Identify the 200 key movers within 90 days and develop a coverage plan.
  • Originate. Bring owners and firms to Flex directly through events, site visits, conferences, portfolio days, and referrals; represent Flex in the sector.
  • Structure the partnerships that move the sector. Negotiate and own relationships after signature with sponsors, venture firms, fund administrators, lenders, accelerators, etc.
  • Set the product agenda for the sector. Define required products and priorities to win primary banking relationships.
  • Build the team as the book grows. Start with account executives/managers and member experience, then hire a sector team as needed.
  • Work AI-native. Leverage AI tools for research, tracking, outreach, and modeling to focus on relationships.

Qualifications

  • 7 to 12 years in investment banking, private credit, private equity, venture, or senior commercial role inside venture and private equity; demonstrable originations track record.
  • Active network in venture and private equity; ability to name and reach 50 key contacts.
  • Fluent in capital movements within funds and portfolio companies (capital calls, distributions, treasury, operating-partner priorities, portfolio CFO needs).
  • Comfortable structuring partnerships, negotiating referrals, and navigating term sheets without external help.
  • Proficient in building models; banker-level Excel; understanding unit economics of deposits, cards, and credit.
