About the role

Senior finance leader responsible for building and running FP&A, advancing AI-enabled financial capabilities, and aligning planning, close, and reporting with accounting. Reports to the CFO, leads the FP&A team, and collaborates across R&D, Platform, Clinical Development, People, G&A, Investor Relations, Corporate Strategic Finance, and Corporate Development.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Planning Cycle: Run the planning calendar end to end, covering the annual operating plan, quarterly reforecasts, and the long-range plan.
  • Rolling Forecast: Lead the shift from a bi-annual budget to a rolling quarterly forecast.
  • Bottom-Up Budget: Build the annual budget across Research, Platform and Compute, Clinical Development, lab operations, and G&A.
  • Scenario Planning: Make scenario planning a standing capability that quantifies the budget impact of decisions before commitments are made.
  • Systems Roadmap: Own insitro's finance systems roadmap for planning and analysis, including Oracle Cloud ERP configuration and AI tooling integration.
  • Scale AI-Enabled FP&A: Use LLM-based tools in work and scale capabilities team-wide.
  • Automate & Integrate: Automate management packages, scorecards, and variance reports; align Oracle, data warehouse, and AI tooling.
  • Self-Serve Access: Provide dashboards and data access to cost center managers and project leads.
  • R&D, Clinical & Compute Finance: Translate plans into cost, headcount, and timeline models (trial costs, CRO/CMO spend, cloud/GPU, build-vs-buy).
  • Portfolio & Headcount Decisions: Bring program-level visibility into portfolio decisions and align with People for headcount governance.
  • Partner to Accounting: Co-own data model, chart of accounts governance, controls, and close-cycle responsibilities.
  • Lead the Team: Grow the FP&A team and advise on finance org design and hiring.
  • Board & Executive Reporting: Own financial materials for Executive Team and Board; present budget, forecast, and variance drivers.
  • One Financial Narrative: Align operating plan, guidance, capital allocation, and deal modeling with Investor Relations, Corporate Strategic Finance, and Corporate Development.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of FP&A/finance experience in biotech or life sciences, including owning a full planning cycle end to end.
